CHÂTEAU POTENSAC
MEDOC Rouge (Red)

Print the sheet

Ownership & history:

For over 250 years, this property has belonged to the Delon family, who also own Léoville-Las-Cases in Saint-Julien and Château Nénin in Pomerol. Château Potensac is one of the stars of AOC Médoc, and their wine represents the Médoc style perfectly. It is characterised by consistent quality and the potential to age for a great many years.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

The grapes are picked by hand. Traditional red Bordeaux vinification over the course of three weeks, partly in concrete vats, and partly in wooden ones for a gentle extraction of the tannins. Ageing in barrels for fifteen months with some barrels renewed every year.

Tasting:

Very ripe fruits on the nose with blackcurrant notes from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil of the Médoc brings intense, earthy notes to the wine, and the barrel-ageing brings hints of smoke. A distinguished Médoc.
