CHATEAU DU GLANA
SAINT-JULIEN Rouge (Red)

Print the sheet

Ownership & history:

Owned and run by the Meffre family since 1961, when they acquired several plots of land from Château Lagrange (3ème cru classé in 1855). Today, the young brothers Julien and Ludovic Meffre are motivated by one major ambition: to achieve the estate's full potential.

Vineyard & location:

Surrounded by some of the finest classified growths of the Médoc, Château du Glana was one of the very few crus bourgeois in Saint-Julien until the 2008 vintage. As of the 2009 vintage, they decided to quit this classification system because they were unhappy with it, preferring simply to concentrate on the reputation of the château itself.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

The grapes are picked by hand. Traditional red wine vinification with a long maceration for an optimum extraction of pigments and a
concentrated structure. Ageing for twelve months in French oak barrels which are partially renewed every year.

Tasting:

Blackcurrant and blueberry aromas on the nose, enhanced by subtle hints of wood.
The mouth is medium-bodied, elegant and has a delicate tannic structure with a blackcurrant finish. Classy.
