Ownership & history:

Vignobles Jean Sorge are home to the cru bourgeois Château Deyrem-Valentin and its little sister, Château Soussans. The estates nestle between two grands crus classés and date back to 1730. Christelle Sorge is now in charge and she continues on a path of tradition married with innovation to provide wines of ever increasing quality to lovers of Margaux everywhere.

Vineyard & location:

The Margaux appellation consists of five different villages and Vignobles Jean Sorge are in one of these, the village of Soussans. The soil conists of deep gravel. 13 hectares are dedicated to Deyrem-Valentin, 2 to Soussans and both are planted at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

The nose is intense and complex with forest fruit flavours and mineral notes. In the mouth, Soussans is a fleshy and generous wine with ripe silky tannins and decent balance. The finish is poised and elegant.


Deleafing is carried out in the vines for Soussans, as is a green harvest. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted twice, firstly in the vineyard and then at the winery. Vinification is standard with cold maceration. Malolactic fermenation and ageing (12 to 15 months) are both carried out partially in French oak barrels (30%).
