GRAVES Rouge (Red)

Print the sheet

Ownership & history:

Les Vignobles Labuzan were founded in 1847 and today the seventh generation is in charge in the form of two brothers. Denis looks after the vines and Thierry makes the wine. Three wines are produced. The flagship wine is Château des Gravières, but there is also Château du Barailh and Ponte La Gravière, and all three of these are produced in both red and white.

Vineyard & location:

45 hectares of vines are farmed in the village of Portets, which has arguably the best gravel soils of the Graves appellation.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

The grapes for Château des Gravières('Cuvée Prestige') are picked partly by hand and partly by machine and 50% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels.

Tasting:

Ruby coloured in appearance, Château des Gravières 'Cuvée Prestige' shows red fruit and gentle oak on the nose. In the mouth, the attack is smooth with notes of vanilla, developing into the softest touch of sweetness. The finish shows a return to the red fruit and a touch of liquorice. It also has decent length.
