MEDOC Rouge (Red)

Ownership & history:

The Cruchon family has been making wine for several generations. Their vines are in the northernmost part of the Médoc, where they own several properties. Amongst them is the long-standing cru bourgeois Château Chantemerle. Château Les Trois Manoirs was awarded cru bourgeois for the first time for the 2009 vintage.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

Standard red wine vinification is carried out in concrete and stainless steel vats for three weeks. The wine is mainly aged in vats and therefore retains its wild, fruity character, although a small part is aged in barrels and this adds a certain complexity, along with some gentle notes of smoke.

The wine is a deep purple colour and its nose is smoky with notes of plum and bacon fat. This follows through into the mouth, with strong plum and cassis flavours running through a creamy texture. The finish is marked by notes of liquorice.
