Ownership & history:

The Melet family has owned Château Bel-Air in Pomerol since 1914 and Château Beauséjour in Fronsac for five generations. Monsieur and Madame Melet took over from their parents in 1992 and were joined by their daughter Véronique in 2003. Following the family tradition, the focus remains on quality.

Vineyard & location:

Excellent clay-limestone terroir located on the right bank of Bordeaux vineyard. A good orientation gives richness and suppleness to Merlot and Cabernet grapes varieties.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

Vines are planted at a denstity of 6000 per hectare and deleafing and green harvests take place. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted by machine. Vinification is in a mix of stainless steel and concrete vats and the wine is aged for eighteen months, two third in barrels. Since 2011, the consultant oenologist has been Bordeaux's rising star, Stéphane Derenoncourt.
