Ownership & history:

In 1760, the Laporte family arrived in the village of Montagne-Saint-Emilion and started to work with a few hectares of vines. Today they own 25.

Vineyard & location:

With Pomerol to the west and Saint-Emilion to the south, the vineyard nestles amongst the most prestigious terroirs of Bordeaux's right bank. The soil is predominantly clayey limestone.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

Traditional red Bordeaux vinification in temperature-controlled concrete vats. Both the alcoholic fermentation and the malolactic fermentation are carried out in the concrete before the wine is partially (25%) transferred to oak barrels for ageing for 12 to 14 months. Once the ageing is finished the final blend is assembled.

Tasting:

This wine is characterised by a full, fruity attack on first taste. When young (3 years or under) this develops into a full-bodied mouth that will benefit from decanting. If the wine is mature (3 years or older) it shows integrated tannins. The finish on this wine is very long and shows just a touch of oak.
