BORDEAUX Rouge (Red)

Print the sheet

Ownership & history:

Chateau Barade, founded in 1956 by the current owner's grand-father, was only made of 5 hectares at the beginning. Today the property is run by his son and grand-son, and is composed of 35 hectares, producing nearly 250k bottles a year.

Vineyard & location:

The vineyard is situated in the foothills of the town of Bossugan, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, east of Bordeaux.
The vines are in average twenty years old and the clay-limestone soil is great for producing wine that stands for the red Bordeaux appellation. The blend is the key of such wines and makes in part the typicity of the appellation.

Harvest, vinification & ageing:

The estate benefits from a brand new, modern winery. Winemaking is in the traditional Bordeaux style, with a long maceration of the grapes to extract the primary fruit flavours.

Tasting:

Château Barade is dark red in colour, with a nose showing red fruit and spices. In the mouth it is balanced, smooth and precise. The tannins are nicely rounded. This wine makes an excellent accompaniment to French charcuterie, red meats and cheeses.
